The In Or Out Book Tag

The second tag this month!

*bells ring*

Hey, this is a big deal for me. I don’t usually get two tags in a month. Well, maybe that one time that I tagged someone, and then they tagged me back (and I didn’t think about saying that I had already done it), but lets leave the past behind us. *starts to sing* The paaaast is in the paaaaast!

Kidding, I despise Frozen.

Moving on, I stole (well, she gave me permission, so would it REALLY be stealing?) this tag from Rebekah A. Morris, better known to me as Auntie Rebekah.

Basically, this tag is a bunch of questions, and I let you know whether I “yay” or “nay”… or rather “IN” and “OUT!” Or both. Depending on the question.

  1. Reading the last page first

OUT…… but I’ve been guilty of doing it multiple times…

2. Enemies to lovers

Um… *glances at beta reader* I may or may not have been guilty of this…. but IN… I guess?

3. Dream Sequences

If it’s a flashback, then IN. A vision…. that’s a little… strange.

4. Love Triangles

OUT. I don’t like these in real life, or books. Because then I feel bad for the person who DIDN’T end up with the girl (or boy), unless they were absolutely HIDEOUS. Hideous as in mean, rude, etc, not ugly.

5. Cracked Spines

I like my books in good condition, BUT if it’s a classic (and I’m all for those!) then it doesn’t matter to me. So, IN and OUT.

6. Back to My Small Town

IN. I love those stories. Like LOVE.

7. Monsters are regular people

Um… that sounds a little creepy. Let’s go OUT.

8. No paragraph breaks

OUT. OUT. OUT. I’m going to get really, really, really, really lost.

9. Multi-Generational Sagas

IN. I usually enjoy those. Haven’t really read any, but I would like to. I’ve WATCHED multi-generational sagas. Like… Star Wars. That’s the only one I can think of. Oh, and Pirates of The Caribbean. I want to write multi-generational, but then I get so attached to the first generation that I CAN’T LET THEM GO!

10. Re-reading

Um….. YES. IN. I love to read. I’ve read Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder like…. hundreds of times? Possibly?

11. Artificial Intelligence

Ehhh… OUT. I don’t care for robots too much. Not that I DON”T mind reading about them, but they’re not really my thing.

12. Drop caps

IN. I think they’re neat.

13. Happy Endings

Yes. Please and thank you. IN. I cry over un-happy endings… usually. I mean, what’s the point? Well, unless it’s a true story. In THAT case, I’m fine with those because it actually happened.

14. Plot Points That Only Converge At The End

IN. Sometimes it can get a little annoying during the book when I really just WANT TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS TO THAT ONE CHARACTER! But IN.

15. Detailed Magic Systems

Ehhhh… OUT. I don’t really care to know how this and this works… unless it’s witchcraft. then I’d like to know that it’s BAD so I can CLOSE the book and RETURN it to the library or THROW it away.

16. Classic Fantasy Races

I’m a Narnia and Lord of The Rings fan, so yes, IN. As long as they aren’t really creepy. I do NOT care for Orcs. They are just… disturbing…

17. Unreliable Narrators

I don’t even know what this is supposed to mean, so OUT.

18. Evil Protagonists

OUT. Just why?!

19. The Chosen One

Yeah, IN. I usually like those. Unless the character is a sarcastic snob.

20. When The Protagonist Dies

OUT! OUT! Imagine the sleepless nights! Oh, Thorin, WHY?! Especially they’re killed by a villain and I’m just like “AHHHHHH! THIS IS THE LAST STRAW MISTER!”

21. Really Long Chapters

Out. So OUT. I need something that will keep my attention.

22. French Flaps

Uh… sure! IN.

23. Deckled Edges

Preferably OUT. I don’t usually care for books like that.

24. Signed Copies by Author

Um, yes! IN! Sadly, I own NONE. Unless you count me signing my diary. Hey, someone could find it and be THRILLED! A piece of history!

25. Dog-Earing Pages

OUT. I used to not take good care of my books, including laying a book incorrectly and bending the paperback. Which is why I invested in bookmarks.

26. Chapter Titles Instead of Numbers

In and Out, but moreso in.

I nominate you! Feel free to steal this tag (I will NOT hold it against you… at all)

  1. I’ll be stealing this tag for next week!!
And these are very interesting responses! I love Farmer Boy, but haven’t read it too many times. Love that whole series. Nice post!!!

  2. Great answers, Anna!!! Haha, I’m with you on not dog-earing pages..whenever a sibling asks to borrow a book of mine, I’m like, sure, but you GOTTA use a bookmark! 😂 (If it’s an old, worn-out book, the dog-eared pages do look rather cool, but still XD)

  3. Interesting tag! I had fun reading your answers! I don’t typically dog ear my books either, but I also don’t often have a bookmark near me. Usually, I just mark my page with a random scrap of paper, lol. 😄
I might have to steal this tag and do it on my blog!
